Mine iron ore in Kindlewastes shroud caves, then smelt bars. The ore does not drop as a finished bar.

Caves, then the furnace

Kindlewastes Shroud mines and caves hold the veins. The community Iron Bars page lists two recipes: a Smelter uses 10 Iron Ore and 20 Charcoal to make 10 bars; a Blast Furnace uses 20 Iron Ore and 40 Coal to make 20 bars. Both list five minutes. Coal is not a mandatory early iron-smelting fuel; it belongs to the later Blast Furnace recipe.

Can I mine iron in the highlands?

The documented veins are Kindlewastes. Tin is the highland ore.

Do bars drop from enemies?

The reliable path is smelting ore. Do not wait on a rare drop.
